I was really happy to see “The Space” listed as one of The Commuter’s five most popular posts of 2024. Thanks so much to Electric Literature for giving this story a home!
I’m delighted to have another story in this year’s Short Story Advent Calendar. If you haven’t seen this calendar, it’s a stunning object — a box of twenty-five individually-bound stories issued annually by the amazing Hingston & Olsen Publishing. My story “Shopping Cart” was featured last Thursday, December 12.
I was incredibly grateful for my story “The Space” to be featured on this week’s episode of Selected Shorts alongside work by Wendi Kaufman, Sharon Olds and Raymond Carver. Please click here to listen to the broadcast.
I was delighted to learn earlier this year that my story “The Space” had been selected for a performance of Selected Shorts at Symphony Space, and I had such fun at the performance last night. It was an honor to be included on such a stellar bill, and I was floored by Rob Yang’s performance of my story.

A few months ago, I wrote to Exacting Clam Editor Guillermo Stitch with a strange pitch: I wanted to write a story for Issue 7 that somehow incorporated other writing from that issue. The result of that experiment, a story called “The Word Party,” has just been published. Thanks so much to Guillermo and Exacting Clam Publisher Jacob Smullyan for letting me give this a try.
A story of mine appears in the new issue of No Contact; please click here to read "Action Figure."
